Bulletin Board
I am passionate about connecting people to ideas and opportunities that will support them in their success. This post serves as a bulletin board to gather resources that I find useful and maybe you will, too. I’ll add more as I find them!
Podcasts & Publications
Supercool: Basically, the podcast of my dreams. Josh Dorfman is highlighting low-carbon innovation through a weekly newsletter and a podcast. And yes, it’s super cool.
The Anti-Doom Initiative: They had me at “It’s time to change the narrative.” The Anti-Doom Initiative is the first campaign of Crooked Ideas, the nonprofit arm of Crooked Media. Their goal is to make energy policy more “digestible and entertaining.” The concept of “de-dooming climate” captivates my inner optimist. We can do this!
Canary Media: In addition to relying on their editorial content, I admire their commitment to editorial ethics, including their commitment to incorporate “diverse perspectives” and to “collaborate with partners from varied backgrounds to broaden [their] reach and impact.”
Heatmap: Another reliable news resource with more of a technology focus (i.e., how it works). Much of their content is behind a paywall, but their Climate 101 series is available by providing an email address. It’s a great resource if you’re someone who likes to get under the proverbial hood.
Organizations
Advanced Energy United™: The voice of the advanced energy industry. My former employer, so I may be biased, but United provides a wealth of trustworthy energy policy information through reports, webinars, and events, and is the go-to trade association for advocacy to shape state and regional policy.
Advanced Energy Group: Similar name, but no connection to Advanced Energy United. H.G. Chissell founded AEG and has built a team to enable systemic change through facilitated stakeholder engagement. His quarterly stakeholder challenges lead to measurable results. If you are ready to get out on the field and move from dialog to action, you want to get into H.G.’s game!
NEWIEE (New England Women in Energy and the Environment): NEWIEE is unmatched in its ability to build community and foster growth for its members through chapter gatherings, mentor programs, peer circles and more. The annual gala is an uplifting celebration of leaders and rising stars in our industry. Every region needs a NEWIEE-equivalent!
Cool Stuff
Mill Food Recycler: If you know me, then you know I am obsessed with our Mill, Oscar. With Oscar in our kitchen, we’ve reduced kitchen waste by at least 50%, and I’ve reduced my food waste guilt to 0% knowing our food scraps are being transformed into chicken feed. It’s a powerful step toward reducing our contribution to land fill (another slight obsession on my part).
